Waves, as we often observe in nature and in various technological applications, have long been a topic of fascination. From the undulating energy waves that form the bedrock of quantum mechanics to the soothing sound of ocean waves, our world is in many ways defined by wave phenomena. Let’s delve into the science of waves and uncover why certain sounds, like those from the ocean drum, evoke relaxation.

A wave is a disturbance that transfers energy from one point to another without transferring matter. Waves can be classified into two main types:

  1. Mechanical Waves: These require a medium (like water, air, or a solid substance) to travel. Sound waves are an example.
